Here’s what makes her tick...
We live in a world that encourages us to be a follower. It’s easy to mindlessly follow trends, celebrities, or even the latest fad diet. When confronted with all these subliminal messages to follow the crowd, it’s easy to lose our sense of self.
At crèmm, we embrace the philosophy is that it’s time to unfollow and simply be you. To own what makes you unique, and what sets you apart.
For our new – and very first – campaign, we tapped six boundary-pushing individuals who go against the grain and always stay true to themselves.
In this introductory installment of our interview series crèmm curators, we sit down with campaign model and beekeeper Georgah Crane to chat shoes, lobsters, tiny Jacquemus bags and dismantling the patriarchy.
Name: Georgah Crane
Occupation: Works in a consignment store and occasionally models
Hey Georgah. If you had to pick five words to describe yourself what would they be?
I’d say I’m kind, curious, ambitious, organised and creative.
Tell us about what’s most important in your life?
Working hard to achieve my goals and to enjoy myself in the process. I don’t want to focus too much on one or the other, but both are very important to me.
What are you working on right now?
At the moment I’m enjoying my work at the consignment store and beekeeping. It’s going to be a good summer.
How did you get into beekeeping? It’s something that I got into last year – now I’m part of a local collective and I try to do it as much as I can. We get out in the sunshine, check on the bees and then usually have a little picnic afterward.
Can you describe your fashion style?
My style is always evolving and suits whatever my mood is. Sometimes it’s really fun and loud, so I’ll put on a vintage silk corset with puffy sleeves. Other times it’s really sleek and I’ll only wear a black slip dress.
Any advice for those trying to figure out their personal style?
Just have fun with it, wear whatever makes you feel good.
Tell us about your favourite pair of shoes.
My Marni sandals because they go with absolutely everything.
What’s the most unique thing about you?
I don’t really like to analyse what makes me different or the same to others, I just try to be genuine.
Have you ever felt pressure to follow the crowd or blend in?
Not particularly, I’ve always been very solid in my self-worth.
What advice would you give those who feel pressured to conform?
Surround yourself with people who show that they care for you and give yourself the space to work things through.
If you could tell a stranger one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I don’t talk to strangers.
What are you most passionate about?
Making small tangible changes that improve your life.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
The patriarchy, for obvious reasons.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“Everything in moderation,” told to me by my mother.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Not married and no kids but living, laughing and loving.
What’s next for you? To say yes to every opportunity that serves me.
